On March 17, 2026, in Hanoi, Deputy Governor Pham Quang Dzung of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) met with Mr. Amol Gupte, Head of South Asia at Citi.

Overview of the meeting
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Pham Quang Dzung welcomed Mr. Amol Gupte and the Citi delegation to the SBV. Noting Citi’s over 30-year presence in Vietnam, he acknowledged the bank’s contributions to the development of Vietnam’s banking sector and the broader economy.
The Deputy Governor expressed his confidence that, with its two operating representative offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, leveraging its strong global network, modern governance system, advanced technology, and diverse product offerings, Citi will continue to contribute to promoting the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the United States, as well as to the development of Vietnam’s banking system in the years ahead.

For his part, Mr. Amol Gupte expressed his appreciation for the close cooperation with the SBV and updated the hosts on Citi’s business strategy and ongoing global restructuring process. During the meeting, both sides also discussed the global and regional economic outlook for 2026, as well as key issues that are likely to impact Vietnam and the broader region.
