Attending the meeting were Directors General of Monetary Policy Department, Monetary Forecasting and Statistics Department, Banking Strategy Institute, Banking Supervision Agency, International Cooperation Department, Monetary and Financial Stabilization Department, Foreign Exchange Management Department; Professor Andreas Hauskrecht of Indiana University Bloomington.
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong warmly welcomed the working visit of Vietnam Initiative and spoke highly of its activities over the past time. She said the SBV highly appreciated its analysis and assessment of macro-economic situations and the management of monetary policy as well as training programs for SBV staff.
On behalf of Vietnam Initiative, Professor Andreas Hauskrecht discussed the situations in the international financial market, impacts and pressure on Vietnam’s economy; effects of border adjustment tax in U.S.A on USD/VND exchange rate and international demand for goods from Vietnam.
Moreover, the two sides exchanged their views on cooperation methods and programs in the coming time as well as funding resources for cooperation programs.
Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong requested Professor Andreas Hauskrecht and Vietnam Initiative to continue coordinating and supporting for the SBV in the coming period, especially focusing on experience exchanging through conferences, seminars, researching articles, specialists’ assessment; periodical report on world and regional economy, effects on Vietnam’s economy in general and finance and banking sector in general, then submitting to the SBV for reference; training programs and etc.
