At the invitation of the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT), a delegation from the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), together with representatives from Vietnamese commercial banks, attended the 2026 Sibos Conference, held from September 28 to October 1, 2026, in Florida, the United States.
Under the theme “Digital Finance for AI-led Economies,” this year’s conference focused on next-generation payment infrastructure, the ISO 20022 data standard, and the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing the security and resilience of the global financial system.
The SBV delegation was led by Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Director General of the Payment Department, and included Ms. Trinh Thi Hong Le, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Exchange Management Department, together with representatives from relevant SBV units. Representatives from several Vietnamese commercial banks, including BIDV, Agribank, and Vietinbank, also attended the conference.

In addition, the SBV delegation held meetings and discussions with other partners and organizations, including Wells Fargo, Clearstream, and JPMorgan Chase, focusing on matters related to enhancing the efficiency of foreign exchange reserve management and settlement, developing value-added services, and exchanging technical expertise on payment systems.
Through its participation in conference sessions and bilateral meetings, the Vietnamese delegation gained insights into emerging financial technology trends and international experience in cross-border payments. These exchanges provide an important basis for Vietnam’s banking sector to further promote non-cash payments, leverage artificial intelligence and big data to enhance safety and cybersecurity, and optimize the user experience in the coming period.
