From May 20 to 22, 2019 at the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), the leaders of the SBV Departments (the Human Resources Department, the Finance & Accounting Department, the Banking Supervision Agency, the Monetary & Financial Stabilization Department, the Monetary Policy Department, the Foreign Exchange Management Department, the Monetary Forecasting & Statistics Department, the Internal Audit Department, the Issue and Vault Department, the International Cooperation Department, the Payment Department, the Information Technology Department and the Banking Strategy Institute) had working sessions with the Mission of the National Bank Of Ethiopia (NBE).
Welcoming the Mission of the National Bank of Ethiopia to have a working visit to the SBV, on behalf of the leaders of the SBV Departments, Mr. To Huy Vu - Director General of the SBV’s International Cooperation Department thanked the NBE for their decision to select the SBV for this study tour and experience exchange in the context that the NBE is undertaking comprehensive reforms to the administration and management of the central bank.

With the desire to learn and exchange experience with the SBV on the organizational structure and the central bank’s operations, within 03 days (from May 20 to 22), the NBE Mission focused on working with the SBV units on the elements of: (i) Building the organizational structure and managing the human resources; (ii) Operating the monetary policy, managing the foreign exchange reserves and the statistics and forecasting; (iii) Banking sector management and banking supervision; (iv) Developing the payment systems and the banking information technology systems; (v) Comprehensive financial development and development of the banking development strategy; (vi) Internal audit and Issue & Vault.
NBE Mission members exchange experience with the SBV
According to Director General To Huy Vu, promoting the bilateral cooperation relations with all countries is a major orientation of the Party and the Government of Vietnam. Therefore, this visit and working Mission of the NBEhigh ranking officers will contribute to promoting the bilateral relationship in the context that Africa has emerged as one of the potential markets and the continent’s political situations are gradually stabilizing. The SBV is also ready to establish an formal information exchange channel and expand the cooperation relations in the banking sector with Ethiopia, thereby contributing to boosting Vietnam's overall cooperation with this market.
