On March 16, 2026, at the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), Governor Nguyen Thi Hong met with Mr. Liu Jun, Alternate Member of the 20th Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), along with the ICBC delegation during their working visit to Vietnam.

At the meeting, Governor Nguyen Thi Hong welcomed Mr. Liu Jun and the ICBC delegation to the SBV. She highly commended ICBC’s development in terms of scale, operational efficiency, and its application of technology in the banking and financial sector. She also noted that, under the SBV’s supervision and management, ICBC Hanoi Branch has fully complied with Vietnam’s applicable laws and regulations.
The Governor emphasized that, amid increasingly robust trade and investment relations between Vietnam and China, the banking system plays a vital role in providing financial services and supporting bilateral economic activities. The presence of foreign banks in Vietnam, including ICBC, has contributed to the dynamic and comprehensive development of the banking sector, while also supporting economic growth.
For his part, Mr. Liu Jun expressed his sincere appreciation to the SBV for its support and facilitation of ICBC’s operations in Vietnam, particularly those of ICBC Hanoi Branch. He reaffirmed ICBC’s commitment to complying with Vietnamese laws and expressed the bank’s desire to serve as a bridge for knowledge sharing in banking development between Vietnam and China.
