According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO), the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.08% in April, 2018 against March, 2018, increased by 1.05% as compared to that of December, 2017, and registered a YoY increase of 2.80%.
Specifically, the prices of six out of eleven groups of commodities increased as compared to the previous month.
The price index of the group of traffic registered the highest increase of 1.18%; followed by the group of the group of housing and construction materials increased by 0.18%; the group of household appliances and goods increased by 0.09%; the group of the culture, entertainment and tourism went up by 0.08%; and the education group increased by 0.06%; and the group of medicine and healthcare the price of was up by 0.02%.
The price of the other remaining groups was down or unchanged; the group of food and catering services declined by 0.18%; the price of postal services and telecommunication decreased by 0.08%; the group of the garment, footwear and hat group went down by 0.01%; the group of other commodities and services was down by 0.02%;and the beverage and cigarette group was unchanged.
The gold price was up by 0.47% as compared to the previous month; the USD appreciated by 0.1% against March, 2018.
The core inflation in April, 2018 increased by 0.05% as compared to that of the previous month, and increased by 1.33% over the same period of 2017. The average core inflation in the first four months of 2018 was up by 1.34% as compared to that of the same period of 2017.
