According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO), the consumer price index (CPI) increases by 0.54% in May against the previous month, and by 1.88% as compared to that of December 2015.
Specifically, the price of total 11 groups of commodities increased as compared to the previous months, of which three groups of commodities registered their increasing level of price higher than that ofthe CPI. They were group of transportation with the highest increase of 2.39%, followed by housing and construction materials and group of other commodities and services with the increase of 0.88% and 0.56% respectively.
The price of the group of food and catering services increased by 0.36%, of which the price of food increases by 0.68%, the price of foodstuff and dinning-out service increases by 0.38% and 0.16% respectively. The price of entertainment and tourism garments; the group of beverage and cigarette; family equipment and appliances; medicine and health services;and the group of postal servicesincreased by 0.34%, 0.11%, 0.09%, 0.05%, 0.03% respectively. The group of textiles, hats and footwear; and group of education registered the same lowest level increase by 0.02%.
The gold price was up by 1.45% while the USD depreciated by 0.01% against VND
