According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO), the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.13% in July, 2016 against the previous month, and by 2.39% as compared to that of the same period in the last year and by 2.48% as compared to that of December 2015.
Specifically, out of eleven groups of commodities, the price of 8 groups increased, one group remained unchanged and two groups decreased as compared to the previous month.
Among the groups of commodities registering their price increase, the group of transportation services recorded the highest increase of 1.19%, followed by the group of other commodities and services with 0.17%; housing and construction materials with 0.14%; beverages and tobacco, 0.09%; the groups offamily equipment and appliances; textiles, hats and footwear; medicine and health care services; culture, entertainment and tourismincreased by 0.06%, 0.04%, 0.02% and 0.01% respectively.
The prices of restaurant and catering services decreased by 0.05% while the price of postal servicesexperienced a slice of 0.01% and the group of education servicesremained stable in the month.
The domestic gold price went up by 5.36% due to the fluctuation of the world gold price in July 2016, while the price of US dollar remained stable, just slightly decreases by 0.21% against VND as compared to that of previous month.
