The Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Nguyen Phuoc Thanh granted License of establishment and operation of CIMB Vietnam Bank Limited to Mr Dato’ Zainal Abidin Putih, Chairman Of the Board, representative of CIMB Bank Berhad on September 29, 2016 at the SBV headquarters.
Speaking at the Ceremony of granting license, the SBV Deputy Governor Nguyen Phuoc Thanh congratulated CIMB Bank Berhad on establishing the wholly-owned foreign bank in Vietnam and hoped this wholly-owned foreign bank would run business effectively, contribute positively to the development of Vietnam economy and banking sector as well as promote the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Malaysia.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Dato’ Zainal Abidin Putih, Chairman of the Board, on behalf of CIMB Bank Berhad committed to lead the bank operate efficiently and support Malaysian and Vietnamese enterprises, making positive contribution to economic develop in both countries. Mr Dato’ Zainal Abidin Putih affirmed that, CIMB Bank Berhad would timely complete the preparation for launching CIMB Bank Berhad in Vietnam.

Under the License No.61/GP-NHNN dated August 31, 2016, the SBV Governor approved to establish the wholly-owned foreign bank of CIMB Bank Berhad in Vietnam, namely CIMB Vietnam Bank Limited. The Headquarter address is 2th Floor, Cornerstone Building, 16 Phan Chu Trinh street, Phan Chu Trinh ward, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi city, Vietnam.
CIMB Vietnam Bank Limited’s charter capital is VND 3,203.2 billion; the operational duration is 99 years.
CIMB Vietnam Bank Limited is allowed to conduct commercial banking operations in line with laws and SBV’s regulations written in the License.
