On July 12, 2018, at the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam, Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong had a meeting with Mr. Konstantin Vnukov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Vietnam.

Also attending the meeting were Mr. Ivan Nesterov, First Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Vietnam and representatives from Vietnam Russia Joint Venture Bank (VRB). On the SBV’s side, there were representatives from the International Cooperation Department, the Payment Department, and the Banking Supervision Agency.
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong welcomed the working visit of Mr. Konstantin Vnukov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Vietnam to the SBV, and expressed her sincere thanks for his support for the development of the cooperative relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in the banking sector.
In addition, the SBV Deputy Governor emphasized that the Government of Vietnam always highly treasures the traditional cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation. Especially, with the upgrading of the mututal relationship to comprehensive strategic partnership in 2013, the cooperative relationship between the two countries has been growing strongly and steadily. There have been positive developments in the trade and economic relations between the two countries despite the complicated situations in the regions and the world. The Deputy Governor also said that the cooperation in the banking sector has been strengthened over the past many years and cited the establishment of Vietnam-Russia Banking Cooperation Working Group in 2000 with the participation of several commercial banks of the two countries.
For his part, Mr. Konstantin Vnukov said that, in the coming time, the Russian Federation and Vietnam would continue to enhance the cooperation in politics, economic fields, especially in the financial and banking domain. He said that, according to the statistics from the Embassy of the Russian Federation, the bilateral trade value between the two countries reached USD 5.2 billion last year. In the first half of 2018, the mutual trade relationship between Russia and Vietnam also obtained encouraging results. He applauded the important role of the commercial banks, especially the coordination between the two central banks, as well as the Banking Cooperation Working Group in developing the mutual cooperation.
Deputy Governor Nguyen Thi Hong expressed her beliefs that, in the coming time, Vietnam and the Russian Federation will continue to promote the two countries’ advantages in order to develop the mutual cooperative relationship.
