Governor Nguyen Van Binh of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had a meeting with Mr. Axel Van Trotsenburg, World Bank (WB) Vice President in Hanoi on November 6 on the occasion of his visit to Vietnam.
Addressing his guest, Governor Nguyen Van Binh informed the WB Vice President of Vietnam’s macro-economic situation and orientation in the coming time. He stated that in 2016 – 2020 period, Vietnam will face many challenges of domestic and international economy, therefore, Vietnam called for the support from the international community in general and the concessional loans from WB in particular for the socio – economic development.
Moreover, Governor Nguyen Van Binh emphasized that thanks to enormous support from the WB both in finance and technical assistance, Vietnam has obtained achievements in poverty reduction and socio-economic development. He expressed his hope for further support from the WB in the coming time.
For his part, WB Vice President Trotsenburg spoke highly of policies conducted by Vietnamese Government and the SBV to stabilize the macro-economy, promote economic growth, and mitigate the negative impacts from the global economic uncertainty. He affirmed the commitment of the WB to continuously support Vietnam for policy consultancy and technical assistance.
