The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) organized press conference on April 04, 2016 to announce a souvenir banknote on the occasion of the 65th Anniversary of Banking Sector (May 6,1951- May 6, 2016). SBV Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu attended and chaired the conference.
The note is a 100 Vietnamese dong denomination printed on 83 millimeter by 163 millimeter high-quality, cotton paper. The a primary color of the note is red.
Content on the front side: Line “The State Bank of Vietnam”, “the 65th Anniversary of Banking Sector” with number 1951- 2016; Denomination 100 VND in words and in numbers; The Vietnamese emblem; Portrait of President Ho Chi Minh and signature of SBV Governor Nguyen Van Binh.
Content on the back side : Line “The State Bank of Vietnam”; Denomination 100 VND in words and in numbers; The image of State Bank of Vietnam building; Thanh Giong (Saint Giong), a mythical folk hero; A stylized depiction of the currency used in ancient Vietnam representing the nation’s monetary sovereignty; and the patterns found on Ngoc Lu Bronze Drum; the sky and dragon are painted as decoration features in both front and back sides.
On the occasion of 65th anniversary of Banking Sector, the SBV issues the note as a souvenir to promote iconic features of Vietnam and its history, and currencies to citizens and international friends. Concurrently, SBV takes this occasion to introduce its progresses of technical application in currency printing. The souvenir banknotes were manufactured by National Banknote Printing Plant under the sponsorship of international partners including France, Switzeland, Sweden, and Germany for paper, ink and security equipments.
The banknotes will be sold for VND20,000 per single note, and VND25,000 per note wrapped in a folder with a bilingual caption.
