On August 15, 2019 at the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), Deputy Governor Nguyen Kim Anh had a meeting with Ms. Sharon Toh, Head of the ASEAN region for SWIFT in Asia Pacific.
An overview of the meeting
Also attending the meeting were representatives from the SBV Information Technology Department, the Central Banking Department, the Department of Anti-Money Laundering (the Banking Supervision Agency), the Payment Department.
At the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Kim Anh welcomed Ms. Sharon Toh to have a working visit to Vietnam, and thanked SWIFT for having cooperated with the SBV and the relevant entities in the banking sector to provide smooth and safe international payment services via SWIFT over the past time.

The SBV Deputy Governor also said that, in the recent time, the SBV has updated and applied synchronously modern technologies in order to ensure safety and security in the operations of the SBV and the banking industry; at the same time, he also shared about a number of new regulations on anti-money laundering prescribed in the Law on Anti-Money Laundering, and the guiding documents of the SBV, relating to the early detection of signs of an attack, or the review, identification and screening of suspicious transactions.
For her part, Ms. Sharon Toh, Head of the ASEAN region for SWIFT in Asia Pacific, shared about the latest developments of cyber security in the international payment area and the cyber risks. Highly appreciating the international experience shared by Ms. Sharon Toh, the SBV Deputy Governor asserted that, in the coming time, the SBV hoped that SWIFT would continue to establish necessary mechanisms and channels of exchanging and sharing with the SBV on the information about cyber risks and security incidents; enhance the cooperation in the implementation of new technology solutions, as well as in the work of ensuring security for international payment activities.
