On September 17, 2019 at the headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), Deputy Governor Doan Thai Son had a meeting with Mr. Peter Zoller, Head of the BIS Banking Department.

Also attending the meeting were representatives from the SBV International Cooperation Department, the Foreign Exchange Management Department and the Central Banking Department.
On behalf of the SBV Management Board, Deputy Governor Doan Thai Son welcomed Mr. Peter Zoller, Head of the BIS Banking Department, and the delegation to visit and work with the SBV. Appreciating the role and contributions of the BIS in maintaining the financial stability, promoting international cooperation in the banking and monetary areas, especially among the central banks. The SBV Deputy Governor emphasized that the cooperation between the SBV and the BIS had been established for a long time and has developed very well in the recent years, which is reflected in the increasing scale and value of the investment transactions and accounts. The SBV has also been actively involved in the BIS activities, for example, the SBV has become a member of the Irving Fisher Committee (IFC), the Asia Pacific Group of the Financial Stability Committee (FSB), and has participated in the BIS annual meetings, and other related events.
In addition, Vietnam has been proactively integrating into the regional and global finance and banking system by participating in the fora, frameworks of monetary and financial cooperation of ASEAN, ASEAN+3, APEC, SEACEN, G20, and the operations and initiatives of the IMF and/or the WB. Vietnam has actively engaged in the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and has recently signed the CPTTP with 10 other countries, which has set the ground for more intensive integration in the international finance, investment and trade networks.
The SBV Deputy Governor hoped that, in the coming time, the BIS would further enhance the cooperation with the SBV in all aspects, such as expanding relations of account transactions, investment, information exchange, market research, training, experience exchange between the SBV and the BIS, as well as the BIS member countries.
Also at the meeting, Deputy Governor Doan Thai Son briefed the guests of the macro-economic situations. In the context of the world fluctuations, the SBV has been operating the monetary policy in a proactive and flexible manner, contributing to the macroeconomic stability.
For his part, Mr. Peter Zoller, Head of the BIS Banking Department, spoke highly of the effective cooperation between the SBV and the BIS over the past time. Congratulating on the achievements that Vietnam has achieved, Mr. Peter Zoller expressed his beliefs in the development of Vietnam's economy, and hoped that the cooperation between the BIS and the SBV would be further strengthened.
