Vietnam National Financial Switching Joint-Stock Company (Banknetvn) organized a ceremony on to receive License on providing payment intermediary services in Hanoi on October 28.

Attending the ceremony were Deputy Governor Nguyen Toan Thang of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), representatives from SBV relevant entites, Board of Directors, Board of Management of Banknetvn.
At the ceremny, SBV Deputy Governor Nguyen Toan Thang granted License No. 11/GP-NHNN dated September 8, 2015 to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banknetvn. According to the License, Banknetvn is permitted to provide such payment intermediary services as financial switching service and electronic clearing service to become the first entity granted license on providing payment intermediary services.
Deputy Governor Nguyen Toan Thang highly appreciated the great effort of Banknetvn in maintaining stable operations of service providing system after the merging of Banknetvn and Smartlink, as well as effectively completing payment infrastructure. Moreover, he required Banknetvn to well operate national ATM/POS switching system, formulate and well operate national electronic clearing system, serve for all retail payment transactions nation wide. Accordingly, Banknetvn must be responsible for providing services for not only commercial banks but also financial institutions, payment intermediary service providers and serving as an unique inter connection with international card issuers.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Tien Dung, Chairman of Board of Directors said that Banknetvn is currently managing and operating financial switching system connecting with all commercial banks in Vietnam, international switching institutions and providing many electronic payment services. As schedule, Banknetvn has been conducting pilot connection with several payment intermediary service providers of electronic wallet and preparing necessary conditions for connecting payment intermediary service providers with Banknetvn switching and electronic clearing system to be ready for operating from December 1, 2015.
