World Bank Vice President of Concessional Finance and Global Partnerships Joachim von Amsberg appraised Viet Nam’s disbursement of official development assistance, adding that the WB supports Viet Nam to get access to new preferential capital in the future.
Vice President of Concessional Finance and Global Partnerships Joachim von Amsberg had a working session with Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai on June 2.
The Deputy PM asserted the role of the WB in the nation’s socio-economic development and thanked the institution for providing US$3.8 billion for Viet Nam in the 2014-2017 phase.
Vietnamese functional agencies are actively cooperating with the WB to establish programs and projects to receive the capital for development, confirmed the Deputy PM.
He added that the Vietnamese Government will apply measures to improve the quality and effectiveness of the capital from the international Development Association-17 (IDA-17).
The Vietnamese Government expected that the WB and other sponsors are applying conversion mechanisms to help Viet Nam get access to non-preferential and market loans.
The WB Vice President respected the cooperation between Viet Nam and the WB, especially in terms of poverty reduction and rural electrification.
He revealed that his working visit to Viet Nam aims to comprehend the Vietnamese Government’s viewpoints on getting access to the IDA plus, which has been set up by the WB.
The WB Vice President also shared challenges Viet Nam is facing such as huge investment demand for development and climate change in the Mekong Delta.
